Creating a team of ‘MiniMe’ RoboGirls ……

It is time to welcome in the new generation of STEM inspired girls (and we are starting younger than ever!).

Cisco Little Big Awards are very exciting – ‘Can you connect the unconnected?’

I was so excited – I was contacted by Matthew Fogg from BAE Warton arranging a meeting as he was our STEM Ambassador (he surprised to find my team were all girls!)

We were in contact before Christmas and agreed to meet on the first Friday after the new term started – 8th January.

On the 7th I discovered to my horror that my girls team were too old !!!

So a quick email to Matt and we decided to make the girls a mentoring team and I would get together a team of Year 7 girls. Time to bring in the younger generation.

Matt came into school on the 8th and he spent a few hours with my mentoring team – looking at project planning, mission statements and general aspirations – it was a great session.

First meeting with the Year 7 team will be tomorrow (14th January) and will be run solely by the mentoring team (I might squeeze some marking in :)) and they will feed back to Matt on their progress at 4pm. Exciting times….. the girls are growing up (so proud :))

Their regional final is on the 24th February 2016 at Brockholes Visitor Centre, Preston.

(If they get through to National Finals – they are held at Cisco Head Office ……Bedfont Lakes, Feltham, Middlesex on the 9th March 2016 …… fingers crossed ….
