We all met at T2 Manchester Airport at approx. 8.15 am GMT, suitcases to hand and ready to line up for check-in for our flight to Washington DC with United Airlines flight UA 1001 which was due to leave at 11.40am.
We worked through passport checks, luggage check in and then went on our way through security. Some of the girls were a little nervous as they had never flown before. Security was fairly straight forward and we arrived in departures area at about 9.20am – we went for breakfast and bought some items for the plane which did include some colouring books!
At approx. 10am we made our way to the departure lounge and were quickly called to board the plane. The flight was great, good food and great service. We had the bonus of personal entertainment – which helped the 7hr and 50 min flight pass quicker. 2500 miles later we landed in Washington DC.
We got through customs and went to collect our bags (which had been collected together and were ready to move to the re-loading conveyor – which was a great time saver!)
We moved through the airport – a few souvenirs were bought – although we did have a few issues with the currency (didn’t we Erin?)
The girls stretched their legs with a walk for a snow cone – and more sweets!
Our connecting flight was delayed by at least 45 minutes …. Although we boarded fairly swiftly – we had to wait for baggage to be loaded from connecting flights.
We had a great journey to Hotel Aria in San Jose – although we had a glitch or two with the Sat Nav …. we arrived safe and sound and ready for bed …….
